Steve leads the UC Natural Reserve System (UCNRS), which in terms of its size, ecological diversity, and user base, is the world’s largest university-managed network of natural areas with 42 field stations representing all major ecosystems of California. With 50,000 fully UC-owned acres, UCNRS serves as a gateway to more than 2 million acres of partnership lands. Steve also serves as Chair of the California Biodiversity Network (CBN), which convenes key environmental experts and community leaders working to support California’s 30×30 partnership, which seeks to conserve California’s globally renowned and highly threatened natural heritage.
